Authenticated record overwrite via unguarded JSON Patch
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Improper object-attribute control in Spring Data REST affected releases allows remote authenticated users to overwrite protected entity fields. The RFC 6902 JSON Patch path omits the identifier and version-property guard used by PUT and merge patch, then binds attacker-controlled values. Reachability requires authenticated PATCH access and a Jackson-visible @Id or @Version property; writes can bypass optimistic locking or overwrite another principal's record.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <=3.7.20
- Affected versionversion=4.0.0 <=4.4.15
- Affected versionversion=4.5.0 <=4.5.12
- Affected versionversion=5.0.0 <=5.0.6
