CVE-2026-47840Network attack vector

Credential theft via disabled StartTLS hostname verification

Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Improper certificate validation in Cloud Foundry UAA before 78.13.0 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to impersonate LDAP servers. The LDAP StartTLS path unconditionally disables hostname verification, so any certificate from a trusted CA is accepted for a mismatched directory host. Reachability requires LDAP authentication over StartTLS and an attacker on the UAA-to-directory network path; successful interception exposes bind and user passwords and permits forged group memberships that grant admin scopes.
