Unauthenticated file disclosure via path traversal
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Path traversal in Metacat before 3.0.0 allows remote attackers to read files accessible to Tomcat through the legacy 1.x API. ArchiveHandler.readArchiveEntry() concatenates archiveEntryName into a filesystem path without validation, while its read-permission check is disabled. Access to the legacy API is sufficient; exploitation exposes credentials, private keys, research data, and other files readable by Tomcat.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
