CVE-2026-47729Network attack vector

Proxy memory disclosure via FTP listing overread

Published Jul 16, 2026 · Updated Jul 16, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in Squid before 7.6 allow remote authenticated users to disclose proxy memory through malformed FTP listings. In ftpListParseParts in src/clients/FtpGateway.cc, strchr treats the terminating NUL as whitespace, advancing copyFrom beyond the listing buffer before xstrdup copies it. Exploitation requires a trusted proxy client to request an attacker-controlled or misbehaving FTP server; returned filenames can expose memory from unrelated cleartext transactions.
