Arbitrary command execution via unsanitized log filename
Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026
Command injection in Sepine Tam MCP-for-Stata before 1.17.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via the stata_do API. The wrapper inserts log_file_name into a quoted Stata log command without validation, so separators escape the string and create additional commands. Exploitation requires access to stata_do; injected shell commands run with the MCP server process's privileges.
