Stored XSS via raw category description rendering
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Stored XSS in AVideo 29.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through crafted category descriptions. The Gallery view in plugin/Gallery/view/mainAreaCategory.php echoes category_description without output encoding after objects/categoryAddNew.json.php stores the submitted value unchanged. Category create or edit permission, an enabled Gallery view, and a video in the category are required; viewing the page executes the payload in the victim's browser.
