Arbitrary file overwrite via uncontained cloud paths

Published Aug 4, 2026 · Updated Aug 4, 2026

Path traversal in CVAT 1.6.0 through 2.64.0 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite arbitrary server files via cloud paths. The preview and contents-v2 endpoints accept manifest paths, and task creation accepts server_files values, without rejecting traversal components before cloud objects are copied to filesystem paths resolved outside their intended roots. Exploitation requires write access to an attached cloud storage or permission to add one; the bounded impact is unauthorized modification of server files.
