Memory disclosure and crash via trailing backslash
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in RetroDebugger before 0.64.72 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory or crash the application via monitor input. The VICE monitor lexer’s unescape() function advances over a terminal backslash and then continues scanning beyond the string terminator. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposure depends on remote access to the monitor command parser.
