Unauthenticated memory corruption via gzip header overwrite
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Timeplus Proton before 1.6.16 allows remote attackers to corrupt server memory through crafted gzip headers. The cloned inflate() code copies gzip extra-field bytes into head->extra without first ensuring that its computed offset is below extra_max. No authentication or user interaction is required over the network, and successful corruption can crash the server or enable code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
