Server-side code execution via inline-script injection
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Reflected XSS in Vitest Browser Mode 4.0.17 through 4.1.5 and 5.0.0-beta.0 through 5.0.0-beta.2 allows remote attackers to run script. The /vitest_test/ handler inserts the otelCarrier query value into an inline module script as executable source rather than serialized data. A user must navigate to a crafted runner URL while Browser Mode is active; the script can steal VITEST_API_TOKEN and use its authenticated API to modify configuration and execute Node code.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 4.0.17, < 4.1.6
