Heap corruption via invalid pointer offset indexing
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Memory-buffer bounds error in GDAL before 3.11.0 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory through crafted compressed data. inflate_table9 in frmts/zlib/contrib/infback9/inftree9.c decrements base and extra pointers before their allocated arrays, then indexes through those invalid pointers while building decompression tables. Exposure requires a consuming application to process attacker-controlled compressed input; successful corruption can execute code in that process, while network reachability depends on the application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
