Engine crash via deeply nested JSON arrays
Published May 19, 2026 · Updated May 19, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in Escargot commit 590345cc6258317c5da850d846ce6baaf2afc2d3 allows local users to crash the engine. The JSON parser enters RapidJSON container handling for each nested array or object without checking Escargot's available stack depth. Processing attacker-supplied JavaScript that calls JSON.parse is required; native-stack exhaustion terminates only the affected engine process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
