CVE-2026-47137Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Host RCE via omitted require option

Published Jun 12, 2026 · Updated Jun 12, 2026

Sandbox escape in Patrik Simek vm2 3.11.3 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary host commands through nested NodeVM creation. In lib/nodevm.js, a strict options.require === false guard runs before an omitted require option defaults to false, leaving the NESTING_OVERRIDE resolver reachable. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled JavaScript inside a NodeVM created with nesting enabled and no explicit require configuration; the inner VM can load child_process and execute commands with the host process's privileges.
