Administrator escalation via unrestricted user role update
Published May 21, 2026 · Updated May 21, 2026
Privilege escalation in BerriAI LiteLLM before 1.83.10 allows remote authenticated users to gain proxy administrator access. The _update_single_user_helper accepted user_role from the request without requiring the caller to be proxy_admin. An authenticated org_admin with network access to the proxy management API can promote the same account and then control users, teams, keys, models, and prompt history.
