Local code execution via COMSPEC path hijacking
Published May 18, 2026 · Updated May 18, 2026
Command injection in Jarrod Watts's Claude HUD 0.0.12 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code via COMSPEC on Windows. The Windows version check in src/version.ts passes process.env.COMSPEC as execFile()'s executable with cmd.exe-style arguments but does not validate the path. Reachability requires control of the plugin process environment before the check, and the supplied executable runs with that process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
