CVE-2026-47067Public exploitNetwork attack vector

VM crash via unbounded URL-scheme atom creation

Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Benoit Chesneau hackney 2.0.0 through 4.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash the BEAM VM via crafted URLs. hackney_url:parse_url/1 lowercases each valid, unrecognized scheme and passes it to binary_to_atom/2, permanently interning a fresh atom before rejecting the scheme. Any application path that supplies attacker-controlled request targets, webhook or callback URLs, or followed redirect Location values can exhaust the fixed atom table and terminate the node without authentication.
