Availability loss via Web Codecs boundary error
Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026
Improper Web Codecs boundary checks in affected Firefox and Thunderbird releases allow remote attackers to interrupt application availability. Mozilla identifies the Audio/Video: Web Codecs component but has not published the faulty operation, triggering boundary, or failure mode in the restricted bug. Firefox before 149, Firefox ESR before 140.9, and Thunderbird before 149 or 140.9 are affected; Thunderbird email reading disables scripting, so exposure requires a browser-like context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
