Privilege escalation via improper REST API validation
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Dell PowerProtect Data Manager before 20.2.0.0 improperly validates REST API input, allowing remote authenticated users to elevate privileges. Dell has not disclosed the affected endpoint, accepted input, or validation error that produces the privilege change. Exploitation requires a high-privileged account and network access, and the resulting privilege increase grants authority beyond that account's intended role.
