Unauthenticated heap exhaustion via unique-topic subscription floods
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in @libp2p/gossipsub before 15.0.23 allows remote attackers to crash Node.js peers with subscription floods. The decoder accepts unlimited subscription entries, handleReceivedSubscription creates an unbounded topic Map entry for each unique string, and removePeer retains empty Sets. Any node using default options and accepting inbound gossipsub connections is exposed; repeated frames exhaust the heap and crash the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
