PHP code execution via unvalidated macro-reference names
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
Code injection in Twig 3.15.0 and later, before 3.26.0, allows attackers who supply template source to execute PHP when it loads. DotExpressionParser routes a string-valued _self or import-alias dynamic attribute into MacroReferenceExpression without identifier validation, whose compiler emits the name as raw PHP. Template-source control is required, but execution occurs before checkSecurity and bypasses even a globally enabled sandbox with an empty allowlist.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
