Cookie-attribute injection via per-instance prototype hijack

Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 28, 2026

Prototype pollution in js-cookie before 3.0.7 allows remote attackers to inject cookie attributes through JSON-derived objects. The assign() helper copies an enumerable proto key with plain assignment, then set() serializes inherited keys as attributes. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-influenced JSON into an attributes argument, enabling cookie scope, security, lifetime, or deletion changes.
