Code execution via poisoned pickle version cache
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Insecure deserialization in Nicolargo Glances before 4.5.5 allows local users to execute code through a poisoned version cache. Outdated._load_cache() passes glances-version.db directly to pickle.load() without integrity or format validation. Exploitation requires write access to the Glances user's cache path and occurs at startup when version checking is enabled, granting the process user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
