CVE-2026-4660Network attack vector

Arbitrary file reads via Git argument injection

Published Apr 9, 2026 · Updated Apr 9, 2026

Argument injection in HashiCorp go-getter before 1.8.6 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary host files through a crafted Git URL. The GitGetter checkout method passes a ref beginning with a hyphen to git checkout without validation, causing Git to interpret the ref as an option. Exposure requires a consuming application to accept attacker-controlled Git URLs and execute Git on the host; the reported impact is file disclosure only.
