Arbitrary command execution via shell interpolation
Published May 15, 2026 · Updated May 15, 2026
Command injection in Vercel Turborepo's VS Code extension before 2.9.14000 allows attackers to run shell commands via a malicious workspace. The extension interpolates workspace settings or repository task names into string-based daemon and task commands that the user's shell interprets. Opening the workspace can activate the extension, while task-name exploitation requires a user to run a task; commands inherit the local VS Code process privileges.
