Route manipulation via unfiltered NATS control headers
Published Jul 6, 2026 · Updated Jul 6, 2026
Improper input validation in affected Apache Camel NATS releases allows remote attackers to steer downstream producers via crafted headers. NatsConsumer copies every inbound NATS header into the Exchange because the default HeaderFilterStrategy has no inbound rules, admitting CamelHttpUri, CamelFileName, and CamelSqlQuery. Exploitation requires NATS 2.2 or later and publish access to a consumed subject; servers using NATS's default no-authentication configuration expose SSRF or other route-specific effects.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
