Unauthenticated route manipulation via control-header injection
Published Jul 6, 2026 · Updated Jul 6, 2026
Improper input validation in Apache Camel CometD allows remote attackers to inject Camel control headers through Bayeux messages. CometdBinding.populateExchangeFromMessage copies the client-controlled ext.CamelHeaders map onto each Exchange with message.setHeaders and no HeaderFilterStrategy. An unauthenticated client can publish by default, but concrete effects depend on downstream producers and range from route redirection to command execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.0.0 <4.14.8
