CVE-2026-46421Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Credential theft via malicious npm preinstall hook

Published Jul 15, 2026 · Updated Jul 15, 2026

Malicious code in three SAP CAP database packages allows attackers to steal host credentials and self-propagate during npm installation. The packages' preinstall script runs setup.mjs, which downloads Bun and executes an obfuscated execution.js credential-stealing payload. Installing @cap-js/sqlite 2.2.2, @cap-js/postgres 2.2.2, or @cap-js/db-service 2.10.1 with lifecycle scripts enabled exposes npm, cloud, SSH, and GitHub credentials and enables further malicious publishing.
