Storage exhaustion via orphaned Kerberos token creation
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Resource exhaustion in OpenBao before 2.5.4 allows remote attackers to consume storage through unauthenticated Kerberos requests. The Kerberos GET handler returns an empty logical.Auth object with an error, so core request handling creates a default token that the error hides from the caller. The path requires no authentication, and repeated requests accumulate unreachable tokens without exposing their values, eventually interrupting service as storage is consumed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
