CVE-2026-46387Network attack vector

Denial of service via unbounded HTTP/2 decompression

Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Data amplification in Suricata before 7.0.16 and 8.0.0 through 8.0.4 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via HTTP/2. The HTTP/2 response-body decompression path repeatedly enlarges its output buffer while decoding gzip, deflate, or brotli data without an effective bound. Suricata must inspect the crafted traffic with HTTP/2 enabled; memory exhaustion affects sensor availability, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
