Stored XSS via unescaped parseUrl link attributes
Published May 15, 2026 · Updated May 15, 2026
Stored XSS in phpMyFAQ before 4.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through malformed URLs in stored comments. Utils::parseUrl() treats quotes as URL characters, interpolates the URL into an href without HTML escaping, and renders the stored result with Twig auto-escaping disabled. Exploitation requires an account, enabled comment editor, allowed comments, and a visitor who hovers over the link; an administrator victim's session cookie enables application takeover.
