Authentication-material disclosure via inverted header-prefix check
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Sensitive-data exposure in OpenBao before 2.5.4 allows local users with audit-device access to read authentication headers. Core.CheckToken applies an inverted prefix test while sanitizing inline-auth request headers, deleting non-auth headers and retaining prefixed authentication material in cleartext audit records. Exploitation requires compromised audit-device access; the reported consequence is disclosure of source authentication material from logs.
