Authenticated server crash via channel archival race
Published May 22, 2026 · Updated May 22, 2026
Race condition in affected Mattermost 10.11, 11.4, 11.5, and 11.6 releases allows remote authenticated users to crash the server. The channel archival path deletes existing persistent notifications before marking the channel archived, leaving a window for concurrent notification creation to trigger a server panic. An authenticated account must time a persistent-notification message within that window; the reported consequence is a server crash, not data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.11.0 <=10.11.14
- Affected versionversion=11.4.0 <=11.4.4
- Affected versionversion=11.5.0 <=11.5.3
- Affected versionversion=11.6.0 <=11.6.0
