Unspecified local impact via unlocked suspension check
Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
Race condition in Linux Kernel Device Mapper allows local users to cause unspecified impact via zone reporting during suspension. The dm_blk_report_zones function calls dm_suspended_md before acquiring the live table lock, so suspension can occur between the check and table acquisition. Reachability requires local low-privileged access, CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ZONED, a zoned Device Mapper device, and winning the race; kernel.org does not identify the resulting failure mode.
