Unauthenticated code execution via SSH option injection
Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
OS command injection in Cockpit 327 through 359 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux allows remote attackers to execute code through remote login. In via_ssh and cockpit-ws, untrusted destination strings precede SSH's option terminator, so leading hyphens become SSH options such as ProxyCommand. The default remote-host-login setting exposes the hostname path with OpenSSH before 9.6; the username path instead requires a nondefault Match exec directive containing %r.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
