Remote crash via misaligned PPPoE PFC payload
Published Jun 8, 2026 · Updated Jun 8, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux Kernel flow dissector allows remote attackers to crash affected systems with a crafted PPPoE PFC frame. __skb_flow_dissect treats a compressed one-byte PPP protocol field as uncompressed, shifting the network header and performing an unaligned access. The crash requires an architecture that faults on unaligned access and an Ethernet interface with RPS enabled; no active PPPoE session is required.
