Memory corruption via oversized scatterlist entries
Published Jun 8, 2026 · Updated Jun 8, 2026
Memory corruption in lib/scatterlist.c in Linux Kernel allows remote attackers to read or write kernel memory via encrypted SMB3 traffic. extract_kvec_to_sg() passes the requested length rather than the page-bounded segment length to sg_set_page(), producing entries that cross page boundaries. A malicious SMB server needs an established sealed SMB3 session; consuming the malformed entries can disclose or overwrite adjacent kernel memory or crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
