Kernel panic via stale HMM page pointer

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel HMM self-test allows local users to trigger a kernel panic by faulting stale device-private pages. dmirror_fops_release frees the dmirror structure without first migrating device-private pages to system memory, leaving zone_device_data dangling. A later dmirror_devmem_fault call, including while a core dump walks the mapping, dereferences the stale pointer and crashes the host; access to the HMM test device is required.
