Local kernel crash via post-null debug dereference
Published Jun 3, 2026 · Updated Jun 3, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux Kernel 6.19 through 6.19.3 allows local users to crash the system through the GPIO character device. In linehandle_create(), retain_and_null_ptr() clears lh before a later dev_dbg statement dereferences lh to print the requested line count. The path requires CAP_SYS_ADMIN to enable dynamic debug, which is disabled by default on Ubuntu; the reported consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
