System hang via NFS direct-reclaim recursion
Published Jun 3, 2026 · Updated Jun 3, 2026
Denial of service in Linux Kernel 6.12 through 6.18.13 and 6.19 through 6.19.3 allows local users to hang the system. LOCALIO page-cache allocations can enter direct reclaim outside GFP_NOFS context, recurse through XFS into nfs_writepages, and deadlock. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a same-host NFS client/server using LOCALIO; the bounded consequence is a system hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
