Kernel-memory disclosure and crash via unchecked decoder bounds
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Linux Kernel AMDGPU VCN4 decoder parsing allows local users to disclose kernel memory or crash the system. The parser in drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/vcn_v4_0.c accesses decoder messages within a buffer object without checking every access against the buffer end. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access; the grounded record establishes memory disclosure and system interruption, but not data modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
