CVE-2026-46186

Local service interrupt via undersized Bluetooth frames

Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux Kernel virtio Bluetooth driver allows local users to interrupt service via undersized RX frames. virtbt_rx_handle() strips pkt_type and forwards frames without verifying the remaining event, ACL, SCO, or ISO header length, allowing core HCI code to read uninitialized buffer bytes. Exploitation requires control of the virtio backend; the demonstrated ACL path also requires an active CIS, BIS, or PA link.
