IPMI driver interruption via unrecovered allocation failure

Denial of service in the Linux Kernel IPMI SI driver allows local users to halt IPMI message handling after an allocation failure. In drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si_intf.c, receive-queue and event-buffer paths failed to restore SI_NORMAL when ipmi_alloc_smi_msg returned NULL, leaving no follow-on transaction running. The gate is local low-privileged access coinciding with memory exhaustion while IPMI SI processes queued messages or events; the consequence is an IPMI driver hang without confidentiality or integrity impact.
