Service interruption via missing INVLPGA permission check
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Improper instruction handling in Linux Kernel KVM SVM allows local users to interrupt service via INVLPGA with EFER.SVME cleared. The invlpga_interception handler in arch/x86/kvm/svm/svm.c omits nested_svm_check_permissions, so KVM executes INVLPGA instead of injecting #UD when EFER.SVME is unset. Low-privileged local access is required; the published assessment limits the consequence to availability loss without confidentiality or integrity impact.

Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
