Subscriber-level group settings modification via unchecked AJAX actions
Published May 13, 2026 · Updated May 13, 2026
Missing authorization in ProfileGrid 5.9.8.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify site-wide group settings via AJAX. The pm_set_group_order, pm_set_group_items, and pm_set_field_order handlers accept requests without capability checks and write group menu order, list order, icon-display, and field-order settings. Subscriber-level WordPress access is sufficient; exploitation changes shared ProfileGrid configuration but does not provide reported data disclosure or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
