CVE-2026-46069

Kernel memory corruption via asynchronous timer cleanup

Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux Kernel mwifiex driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory during wireless adapter removal. mwifiex_adapter_cleanup() calls non-synchronous timer_delete() before freeing the adapter, so a concurrent wakeup_timer_fn callback dereferences freed fields. Reachability requires the mwifiex driver and a race with adapter teardown; the corruption affects kernel confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
