Privilege escalation in GeoVision GV-Edge Recording Manager 2.3.1 allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges through its file dialogs. ERM creates a LocalSystem Windows service, then launches application processes and their open/save dialogs under SYSTEM instead of the logged-in user. Any local user who can launch ERM and invoke a file dialog can modify or delete protected files and take full control of the operating system.
