Local kernel crash via m2m context race
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Race condition in the Amphion VPU driver in Linux Kernel allows local users to crash the kernel through concurrent context release. v4l2_m2m_ctx_release() frees m2m_ctx while v4l2_m2m_try_run() proceeds to device_run() with that context, causing a use-after-free read and kernel panic. Triggering requires local low-privileged access and concurrent m2m teardown and scheduling in the Amphion driver; the documented consequence is a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
