Local RAID10 I/O hang via counter underflow
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Improper locking in Linux Kernel md/raid10 allows local users to hang RAID10 I/O when an array check overlaps NOWAIT requests. raid_end_bio_io reaches allow_barrier, which decrements conf->nr_pending even though the NOWAIT path did not increment that counter. The condition requires concurrent array checking and NOWAIT I/O; the underflow prevents the resync thread and queued requests from passing the barrier.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
