Data corruption via unsynchronized RAID bitmap reads
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Incorrect synchronization in Linux Kernel 6.18.0 through 6.18.26 and 6.19.0 through 7.0.3 allows local users to corrupt RAID data. The md/llbitmap bitmap reader accepts the first nonfaulty assigned member without checking In_sync, so it can consume stale or uninitialized bitmap pages from a rebuilding spare. Reachability requires a Linux MD array with a rebuilding spare and bitmap reads; invalid dirty-bit tracking can corrupt data during recovery or normal operation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
