Local availability loss via DMA cacheline sharing
Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026
Incorrect DMA buffer allocation in the Linux Kernel powerz hwmon driver allows local users to interrupt affected systems through device operations. The driver places its transfer buffer beside a mutex in one allocation, so DMA can act on a cacheline that also contains mutex state. Exploitation requires local access, a loaded powerz driver, compatible hardware, and an affected architecture; the documented impact is availability loss without data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
